Class trip :)

Class trip to Islamic Playhouse, Damansara

Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrated that The Prophet Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: “Whoever seeks a way to acquire knowledge Allah will make easy his way to paradise.” (Muslim) Also Anas Radiyallahu ‘anhu related that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: “Seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.”
(Ibn Majah)

EXPERIENCE

Alhamdulillah, IIUM has given us this opportunity to go to this class trip to do the observation for our assignment. This trip really helps us to understand and see how the theories we learnt in Linguististic applied.

All the participants for this trip were gathered in front of Mahallah Fatimah Az-Zahra while waiting for our lecturer, Mr. Nazriq to reach there. Five representatives from section 704 were ready for the journey.  After being informed about the place, we were departed together by using different of transportation. Some representatives from other sections need to reach the destination by renting a cab and some of them were lucky enough because Mr. Nazriq drove them.

The children and the staff at this play school gave us a good cooperation. Before we started our programme, we were given a short briefing by the owner of the playhouse. She explained about the learning process in the playhouse and it is completely different from other  kindergarten.
We enjoyed this trip and treated the children like our own family. They are so adorable and very clever.

 OBSERVATION
There are three groups of the Khalifah, which are Baby Khalifah, Little Khalifah and Junior Khalifah. Baby Khalifah is children between 18 months until 36 months (1-3 years old). Most of the babies are still in the process of  learning and still developing their skills to speak. They were taught by the teachers who implement the critical period theory in their teaching.  They used different methods for each group. According to the critical period theory, children at the age of 18 to 36 months would be able to communicate using one or two words at the same time. This video shows how the teacher communicates with them.

Instead of using complex  sentence she used easy words.

Next is Little Khalifah which are the children from 3 to 4 years old. The Little Khalifah is different from Baby Khalifah because of their communication skills. They know how to communicate using the simple sentences. Based on the stage of age, they were in the fourth stage, so they should be able to create and understand simple sentence.

Last but not least is the Junior Khalifah. For this group, the children are able to create complex sentences but still improving their skillsThe obvious thing that can be seen is children in junior khalifah would be able to understand us when we used complex sentences.

Some of the children are able to master a few rules of communication.

This kid is able to master the maxim of quantity. When we asked him what is his name.  He only wrote what is needed which is his name.

Some of the children from Baby Khalifah learn through imitation. They tend to imitate what adults did. We manage to observe one of the babies named Uqail, 2 years old. I asked him to colour the letters of “Alif Ba Ta “ and he was able to complete it.

This video shows us how this boy learn through imitation.

We were very excited when we saw a boy at the age of 1 to 2 years old pack his cloth by himself. How this could be??????? This video tells us the story.

Now, let's take a look at this picture. Did you see the motto? Waldorf, Montessori and Reggio? This is the differences and uniqueness of this playhouse. The three mottos are inspired by an Austrian philosopher (Waldorf) and an Italian physician (Montessori). It emphasis on independence, respect for a child's psychological development, providing practical, hands-on activities and environments that encourage creative play. This is how   the children can be so independent for example they can wash their own plate, pack their bags and so on.

REFLECTION

We faced some difficulties at the beginning of this trip.
We departed from CFS at 10.15 a.m. as we planned to ensure everything going smooth especially while facing the traffic. In about ten minutes, we were stacked in the traffic but luckily it was just for a while.

My friend, Nazirul drove his car searching for the signboard and as we passed by SEGI University, finally we found Tree House Islamic Playschool. We had safely arrived there at 11.00 am but we all agreed to keep it as a secret as it was quite embarrassing since we were the first to depart but we were the last to arrive.

This trip gave us a lot of advantages. Now,we realise that it is very crucial for the children to have a good and suitable environment for the process of learning. As we learnt in psycholinguistic, adult input is quite important. Most of the teachers speak in English as it is important for the children to acquire as many language as they can during the critical period.

islam on Raising Children in Islam – How to raise children into responsible Muslim adults?

May Allah bless us because we are doing this for the sake of Him.Lillahitaa'la.

Social Media Detox

It was all started about a month ago, life was crazy at that time, one submission after another, school had a series of events before the academic year ended and I was freaking tired. To cut the story short, I randomly uninstalled my social media applications on my phone and dang I think I said it few months ago to go social media free by the end of this year. I haven't reached to that point yet, still scrolling down Twitter before I sleep but I am off Instagram and Facebook for quite some time already. There are times I feel like yknow reinstall those apps again but man my 24 years old brain cannot even remember the password. But LET ME TELL YOU I feel much calmer, less insecure and no unnecessary sakit kepala! Thanks to my forgetful mind, I stop checking on social media every 2 hours, scrolling down people's feed or timeline(whom I don't even know) and putting the pressure on myself (because I haven't achieved what people have). It's true lah afte

thanks to Allah..
